bulletIn September 2002 NC NENA President signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the North Carolina Emergency Management (NCEM) for use of the Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce.

 
bulletNC NENA is recognized as the primary point of contact for any requests made to NCEM for assistance to any PSAP in North Carolina.

 
bulletLetters explaining the TERT program were sent to all affected city and county managers in North Carolina.

 
bulletNC NENA President commissioned an updated review / count of all PSAP’s (to include information needed for database) An update from a 1996 study.

 
bulletCommunications Centers around the state were notified of the the creation of the taskforce.

 
bulletNOTE: All PSAP’s are eligible to receive assistance from the taskforce, regardless of their ability to deploy.

 
bulletIndividual PSAP information has been collected for the PSAP database

 
bulletA "Run-Card" style database was designed to determine the initial Assisting PSAP’s for each communications center in NC.

 
bulletA practice deployment was planned for early 2003.

 
bulletFirst TERT Deployment to Lenoir County after West Pharmaceutical Plant explosion in January 2003.

 
bulletTERT Deployments to Tyrrell and Pasquotank Counties in September 2003 after Hurricane Isabelle.

 
bulletTERT Deployment to Haywood County in September 2004 after Hurricane Ivan.

 
bulletTERT Deployment to Saint Tammany Parrish, Louisiana in September 2005 after Hurricane Katrina.

 
bulletNENA announces a national TERT initiative in Greensboro, NC on October 25, 2005. Will later become the National Joint TERT Initiative (NJTI)
