Chapter Awards Overview

 



The North Carolina Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association proudly presents awards annually to public safety professionals in nine (9) categories for recognition of outstanding performance and contribution to the profession of public safety communications. There is also a category for the President’s Award, which is awarded at the discretion of the chapter president. The president is responsible to solicit for these awards on an annual basis and appoint an awards committee to decide the award winner in each category. Awards are presented at the annual conference. Following are the nine categories in which nominees are solicited for awards:

 

Communications Center Employee of the Year Award:

This award is presented to an individual telecommunicator or call taker in recognition of their exemplary job performance above the call of duty, as well as the skills and knowledge exhibited in all aspects of communications on a daily basis.

 

Communications Center Supervisor of the Year Award:

This award is presented to an individual in recognition of their outstanding service as a supervisor of communications and for the exceptional professionalism in the field of emergency communications that is demonstrated on a daily basis.

 

Communications Support Personnel of the Year Award:

This award is presented to an individual employed within the communications center in recognition of their outstanding service and dedication to the agency. This may be awarded to the Radio Technician, CAD Manager, Addressing/MSAG Manager, or any other support position in which the individual has played a significant role in the enhancement and improvement of operations of the center.

 

Communications Training Officer of the Year Award:

This award is presented to an individual in recognition of their outstanding service as a training officer of communications and for the exceptional dedication and innovation in preparing and training the skills and knowledge base of emergency communications professionals.

 

Communications Leader of the Year Award:

This award is presented to the individual that performs the duties of the manager, director, or assistant director of a communications center in recognition of their accomplishments in encouraging, motivating, supporting and mentoring their employees.

 

Communications/911 Center of the Year Award:

This award is presented to the Communications/911 Center that exhibits outstanding professionalism, leadership, innovation, and service to the community it serves, as well as to its region and state. This may be demonstrated by the center’s contributions in the advancement of public safety communications, including technology, management, training and community involvement.


Communications Team of the Year Award:

This award is presented to a group of two (2) or more communications officers for their exemplary handling of a specific 911 emergency or other situation that involves the coordination of multiple public safety responses and other emergency resources.

 

Outstanding Commercial Member of the Year Award:

This award is presented to a vendor for their outstanding dedication in working to strengthen public awareness and support of emergency communications and 911, as well as their dedication and support of the North Carolina National Emergency Number Association.

 

Hall of Fame Inductee:

This award is presented to honor those who have performed outstanding service to the chapter over a period of years through their strong commitment and dedication to strengthening the field of public safety communications. All NC NENA past presidents are inducted into the NC NENA Hall of Fame at the annual conference following their year as NC NENA President.
